Peer review is a fundamental process in the world of scientific publishing. Dr. Mantica believes that the role of peer review is not only to accept or reject manuscripts, but to give truthfulness and method to scientific literature from time to time. The reviewer has a fundamental role, which is to select potential articles that can provide input to readers and that can give an impulse to current scientific knowledge.

From Dr. Mantica’s point of view, the key thing to do as a reviewer is to keep in mind the possible importance of the research submitted. If the research is of good quality, the role of the reviewer becomes that of advising the author on how to improve his/her presentation. A fundamental thing remains respect for the research presented by the authors. A reviewer must always remember the time and effort that such research may have cost the authors, and therefore must always respect it.

The possibility of being able to actively impact world literature as an author is certainly stimulating, but it is equally stimulating to be able to do so passively, providing valuable advice to other authors and editors,” says Dr. Mantica.
